Minimum Energy Designs: From Nanostructure Synthesis to Sequential Optimization
نویسندگان
چکیده
Motivated by a problem in the synthesis of nanowires, a sequential space filling design, called Sequential Minimum Energy Design (SMED), is proposed for exploring and searching for the optimal conditions in complex black-box functions. The SMED is a novel approach to generate designs that can quickly carve out regions with no observable nanostructure morphology, do not involve parametric estimation, and allow for the exploration of complex response surfaces. It can be viewed as a sequential design procedure for stochastic functions and a global optimization procedure for deterministic functions. Guidelines for choosing the parameters of the design are proposed. Convergence of the algorithm is studied under certain regularity conditions. Performance of the algorithm has been studied using experimental data on nanowire synthesis as well as standard test functions.

متن کاملArea-oriented synthesis for pass-transistor logic
Pass Transistor Logic (PTL) circuits have been successfully used to implement digital ICs which are smaller, faster, and more energy efficient that static CMOS implementations of the same designs. Thus far, most PTL implementations have been handcrafted; as such, designer acceptance of PTL has been limited. In this paper, we develop efficient algorithms for automated synthesis of high quality P...
متن کاملAn algorithmic approach to finding factorial designs with generalized minimum aberration
Factorial designs are arguably the most widely used designs in scientific investigations. Generalized minimum aberration (GMA) and uniformity are two important criteria for evaluating both regular and non-regular designs. The generation of GMA designs is a non-trivial problem due to the sequential optimization nature of the criterion. Based on an analytical expression between the generalized wo...
